What is your role at Empower? In your own words, what do you do?
I am a People Operations Generalist, which, in simpler terms, means I’m a Human Resources Generalist.
My focus is on fostering positive employee relations, ensuring our policies are upheld, and maintaining a supportive, welcoming work environment. When challenges arise, my team and I step in to identify the issues and work toward the best possible resolution.
What was your career path like before joining the team, and what made you want to join Empower?
My career began at Chick-Fil-A, where I quickly advanced to the management team, taking on roles as both Manager and Human Resource Assistant. When I reached the peak of growth opportunities there, I transitioned to a remote role in the corporate office of a funeral company, working in talent acquisition. This experience helped me grow significantly and led to a role in Human Resources. Although I valued the work, I missed the in-person connection with a team, which inspired me to seek a role where I could collaborate directly. That journey brought me to Empower.
What’s something about your job that most people wouldn’t expect?
When many people think of Human Resources, they often see us as the company’s “police department”—perhaps because we handle investigations. However, this doesn’t fully capture what HR truly represents. Rather than policing, we are here as partners, offering support and guidance to employees. Our role is flexible; we strive to meet employees where they are and work to ensure their needs are understood and met.
What’s the most impactful thing you’ve learned in your time with Empower?
In a world and company that is always moving and changing, I have learned to take a second to stop and slow down.
What is your favorite part about working at Empower Pharmacy?
My team. I have an amazing team and get along with all of them. I cannot imagine doing this job without them.
What does patient care mean to you, and how do you contribute to that mission?
Medication is essential, but making it affordable is even more critical.
No one should have to sacrifice their health due to cost. While I may not be directly involved in manufacturing and distributing the medication, I ensure that those who are have the support they need and that their needs are met.
In this way, I contribute to our shared mission of expanding access to quality, affordable healthcare.
What is a proud moment or achievement you’ve had at Empower that has stayed with you?
As a member of the Human Resources team, I’m actively involved in the orientation process for new hires, making me one of the first people they meet at Empower. If I can help make their first day enjoyable and spark excitement about joining our team, that’s something I’m genuinely proud of.
What are you looking forward to in your future at Empower Pharmacy?
I am excited to join a company that is growing and creating a bright future not only for its patients but also for the dedicated people making its mission a reality.
