Position Summary:
The Materials Lifecycle Manager leads cross-functional execution across all material changes, reformulations, product discontinuations, bill-of-materials (BOM) updates, and material master data management within Empower Pharmacy’s hyper-growth, highly regulated 503A/503B environment. The manager chairs the Material Review Board, directs reformulation and discontinuation execution, and owns BOM management along with future ERP material master data management and governance, ensuring alignment across Supply Chain, R&D, Production, Quality, Finance, and IT. Success requires strategic thinking, execution rigor, sound judgment, and learning agility to balance data integrity, operational readiness, compliance, and business value. The role also strengthens decision-making through structured data analysis and approved AI-enabled tools that improve workflow efficiency while preserving human accountability, validation, and regulatory controls across critical material lifecycle decisions and execution.
Responsibilities:
Material Change Governance
- MRB Leadership: Chair the Material Review Board program, driving timely decisions on new suppliers, materials, and proposed changes before implementation within quality and supply chain systems.
- Change Control: Coordinate planning, review, and approval of supplier and material changes, ensuring dependencies, documentation, system updates, and implementation requirements are clearly assigned and completed.
- R&D Liaison: Act as primary liaison between R&D and Supply Chain for reformulation execution, BOM management, and identification of new material requirements.
- Reformulation Management: Own reformulation project execution from R&D handoff through implementation, coordinating BOM updates, supplier and material changes, and documentation to support a seamless transition to production.
BOM & Material Master Data Management
- BOM Management: Own bill-of-materials creation, revisions, maintenance, and accuracy across the product portfolio, ensuring BOMs reflect current formulations, packaging, and sourcing requirements.
- ERP Master Data Governance: Lead future ERP material master data management and governance, establishing data standards, ownership, and controls that ensure accuracy and consistency across systems.
- Data Quality & Systems Readiness: Partner with IT, Quality, and Supply Chain to maintain clean, audit-ready material master data supporting planning, procurement, and compliance needs.
Portfolio And Discontinuation Planning
- Portfolio Optimization: Support product portfolio optimization initiatives through collaboration with Sales and Finance, using structured analysis to support product rationalization decisions and align resources with business priorities.
- Discontinuation Management: Own the cyclical product discontinuation planning and execution, coordinating Marketing, Sales, IT, Production, Pharmacy, and Quality to manage dependencies and implementation timelines.
- S&OP Alignment: Facilitate weekly and monthly S&OP discussions, aligning Supply Chain, Production, and Quality around material changes, reformulation timing, and discontinuation priorities, capacity considerations, and timelines.
Team And Operational Leadership
- Materials Leadership: Guide the Materials Management team during high-demand periods, supporting planning, forecasting, and master data decisions that maintain operational continuity and disciplined execution.
- Decision Support: Use Salesforce, Excel, Power BI, project management tools, and approved AI capabilities to streamline workflow analysis, surface risks, and support timely lifecycle decisions.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Strong expertise in materials management related to change control, reformulations, BOM management, materials management, supply planning, portfolio optimization, and product discontinuation execution.
- Advanced project management skills with ability to coordinate cross-functional dependencies, manage competing priorities, maintain accountability, and adapt execution plans as conditions change.
- Skilled in Salesforce, Excel, Power BI, Jira or Smartsheet, and Office applications for project tracking, analysis, reporting, and workflow coordination.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for chairing governance forums, aligning stakeholders, navigating complexity, and translating business priorities into executable lifecycle plans.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and material master data structures, with the ability to establish governance standards, data ownership, and quality controls.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of relevant Supply Chain or Project Management experience, including significant responsibility for materials management, planning, or project execution required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, life sciences, a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Experience managing material change control, reformulations, BOM management, or ERP/material master data governance within a regulated manufacturing or life sciences environment required.
- CSCP, CPIM, PMP, Lean/Six Sigma, or similar certification demonstrating additional expertise in supply chain, project management, or continuous improvement preferred.
