POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Senior Premier Account Manager owns a portfolio of Empower’s largest, most complex, and strategically significant Premier Accounts, protecting revenue, expanding account value, and strengthening executive relationships across a hyper-growth, highly regulated 503A/503B environment. This role develops account strategies, interprets utilization and market signals, leads complex relationship recovery, and coordinates cross-functional resources to resolve customer needs with sound commercial judgment. Success requires disciplined execution, strategic thinking, learning agility, and consistent ownership of retention, expansion, relationship health, forecasting, and executive engagement. The position serves as a trusted advisor to physicians, executives, owners, and practice leaders, translating customer priorities into actionable plans while balancing clinical, operational, regulatory, and business considerations. In an AI-enabled organization, the role uses validated insights and decision-support tools to improve account planning, identify emerging risk, and accelerate decisions responsibly.
Essential Job Functions:
Account Strategy
- Portfolio Ownership: Own assigned Premier Accounts, protecting retention, strengthening relationship health, expanding account value, and maintaining clear accountability for overall portfolio performance.
- Account Planning: Develop strategic account plans using customer priorities, revenue performance, therapeutic utilization, competitive dynamics, operational dependencies, and identified growth opportunities.
- Growth Expansion: Advance organic growth by expanding therapeutic utilization, provider adoption, patient reach, and relevant formulary opportunities across assigned customer relationships.
Customer Leadership
- Executive Relationships: Build trusted partnerships with physicians, executives, owners, and practice leaders by understanding business models, workflows, therapeutic priorities, and long-term objectives.
- Business Reviews: Lead Executive Business Reviews that translate utilization, service, clinical, and performance information into practical insights, recommendations, and forward-looking priorities.
- Relationship Recovery: Lead recovery strategies for complex or at-risk accounts, diagnosing issues, coordinating interventions, restoring confidence, and protecting strategically important customer relationships.
Cross-Functional Execution
- Functional Alignment: Coordinate Medical Affairs, Pharmacy, Operations, Customer Experience, Compliance, Customer Support, and other partners to resolve complex needs and implement sustainable solutions.
- Commercial Judgment: Serve as commercial lead when customer expectations and internal clinical, operational, regulatory, or business considerations require alignment, escalation, and sound judgment.
- Market Intelligence: Translate customer feedback, competitive activity, therapeutic trends, and portfolio performance into actionable recommendations on service improvements, growth opportunities, and emerging risks.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of compounding pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, HRT, GLP-1 therapeutics, peptide protocols, functional medicine, or directly adjacent therapeutic categories sufficient to independently engage sophisticated clinical and business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing strategic account plans, protecting and expanding high-value relationships, identifying organic growth opportunities, and recovering complex or at-risk accounts.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze account performance and market information, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and translate findings into actionable strategies and recommendations.
- Strong clinical and commercial fluency with the ability to engage physicians, executives, owners, and practice leaders regarding therapeutic utilization, formulary opportunities, clinical workflows, business priorities, and relevant compliance considerations.
- Strong consultative communication, executive presence, negotiation, and influencing skills with demonstrated ability to drive outcomes across functions without direct authority.
- Advanced Salesforce proficiency and demonstrated discipline in strategic account planning, opportunity management, forecasting, and documentation.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 6 to 8 years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical sales, specialty pharmacy account management, strategic account management, or a closely comparable healthcare customer-facing role, including demonstrated success managing large, complex, or strategically significant accounts.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Life Sciences, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Experience leading Executive Business Reviews and complex customer discussions with senior clinical and business stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring or serving as a subject-matter resource to account-management or commercial colleagues preferred.
