Position Summary:
This is a domain expert’s role. The Director of Product Marketing will own product marketing strategy, value proposition development, pricing architecture, launch execution, and competitive market intelligence across Empower’s full therapeutic portfolio. The right candidate has walked the halls of a competitor, a specialty pharma brand, a compounding pharmacy, or a telehealth platform and carries deep working knowledge of the therapy areas Empower operates in: men’s health, women’s health, weight management, dermatology, longevity, peptides, sexual health, and cognitive health. This leader translates clinical and commercial complexity into sharp positioning, credible product branding, and go-to-market plans that move prescribers, patients, and partners to act.
Responsibilities:
Product Strategy, Positioning, and Launch Execution
- Launch Architecture: Build and execute therapy-specific go-to-market launch plans across Empower’s full portfolio—men’s health, women’s health, weight management (GLP-1), dermatology, longevity, peptides, sexual health, and cognitive health. Each launch plan must reflect the distinct clinical evidence base, regulatory environment, prescriber profile, and patient journey for that category. Sequence investments by market readiness, competitive intensity, and channel fit.
- Value Proposition and Product Positioning: Develop therapy-area-specific value propositions and product positioning for each of Empower’s categories. Build distinct positioning by audience—patient, prescriber, and telehealth partner—that articulates clinical differentiation, formulation quality, regulatory credibility, and the patient experience advantage Empower delivers over mass-market alternatives. Translate positioning into product naming conventions, product-level brand architecture, and messaging hierarchies that Campaign and Brand teams execute against.
- Cross-Functional Orchestration: Serve as the connective tissue across all functions that touch a product’s commercial lifecycle. Partner closely with R&D and Product on pipeline sequencing and formulation decisions; with Supply Chain and Operations on launch readiness and inventory positioning; with Sales on prescriber targeting, messaging, and field enablement; with Customer Service on patient experience feedback loops; and with the Campaign and Brand teams to ensure all market-facing execution is brand-compliant and anchored to the product positioning this role defines. Own the cross-functional launch calendar and keep all stakeholders aligned on commercial timelines and compliance readiness.
Market Intelligence and Competitive Strategy
- Intelligence Systems: Build an AI-powered market intelligence capability aggregating competitive signals, prescriber data, and regulatory developments into insights that drive portfolio prioritization and senior leadership decisions.
- Competitive Positioning: Monitor the full compounding and functional medicine competitive landscape across every therapy area Empower operates in: GLP-1 and weight management, testosterone and hormone therapy for men, hormone and peptide therapy for women, dermatology and skin health, longevity and anti-aging, sexual health, and cognitive health. Track direct compounding competitors (Belmar, Olympia, Strive, and analogous platforms), telehealth-integrated pharmacies, and branded pharma alternatives. Use competitive intelligence to identify prescriber switching triggers, pricing pressure points, and positioning gaps. Translate findings into actionable commercial responses within weeks, not quarters.
- Customer Insights: Run a voice-of-customer program capturing prescriber, telehealth partner, and patient insights through AI-assisted analytics. Translate findings directly into product roadmap recommendations and messaging refinements.
- Channel and Partner Pricing: Design pricing frameworks for telehealth platform partnerships and prescriber-facing channel relationships that drive volume without eroding brand positioning or margin. Develop pricing governance protocols that ensure consistency across channels while enabling appropriate channel-specific flexibility. Partner with Sales, Operations, and Finance to model the commercial impact of pricing decisions before implementation.
Product Branding and Market Experience
- Product Brand Architecture: Own the product-level brand architecture across Empower’s therapeutic portfolio. Define how each product line or therapy area is named, positioned, and experienced relative to Empower’s master brand. Ensure product branding is differentiated by category while maintaining brand cohesion across the portfolio. Work within Empower’s brand framework and partner with the Brand team to ensure all product-level identities are consistent, compliant, and commercially compelling.
- Patient and Provider Experience: Define and continuously improve the end-to-end experience for patients and providers across every therapy area. This includes onboarding journeys, patient education touchpoints, prescriber engagement materials, and the product-level narrative that shapes how patients and providers perceive and remain loyal to Empower’s formulations. Partner with Customer Service, Sales, and the Campaign team to identify experience gaps and close them with product-specific content, messaging, or service design improvements.
- Thought Leadership: Establish Empower as the authoritative voice across its therapy areas through clinical case studies, prescriber education materials, category insights, and conference presence. Partner with Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and R&D to produce scientifically credible materials that advance prescriber confidence in compounded formulations. Use therapy area expertise to shape the editorial agenda, not just approve content created by others.
Campaign and Brand Collaboration
- Campaign Partnership and Brand Compliance: This role does not own demand generation or digital marketing execution—those functions sit with the Campaign team and the Director of Search & Social Performance. The Director of Product Marketing provides the strategic product input that makes campaigns effective: therapy-area positioning, audience insights, value propositions, and product messaging frameworks. Partner closely with Campaign, Brand, and Digital teams to ensure all market-facing execution is brand-compliant, clinically accurate, and aligned with the product positioning this role defines. Serve as the product marketing authority that briefs and approves campaign creative and messaging.
- Sales Enablement and Channel Readiness: Equip the Sales team and telehealth partner network with the product knowledge, materials, and tools they need to convert at the point of prescription. Build therapy-area-specific sales enablement resources: prescriber one-pagers, formulary support materials, objection-handling guides, and competitive comparison tools. Ensure every commercial touchpoint—from initial prescriber outreach to patient onboarding—reinforces the product positioning and clinical credibility Empower has built.
- Performance Analytics: Define KPIs spanning pipeline contribution, prescriber acquisition cost, and category penetration. Use AI-assisted dashboards to surface leading indicators and drive rapid test-learn-scale cycles reportable to executive leadership.
Team Leadership and Organizational Scaling
- Team Development: Recruit and lead a high-performance marketing team with pharmaceutical expertise and AI-native skills. Build a culture of experimentation and data literacy that scales with the organization’s growth and complexity.
- Systems and Processes: Build scalable marketing operations—campaign workflows, brand governance, AI-powered project management—replacing ad hoc execution with repeatable, auditable processes that support multi-product launches without sacrificing speed or quality.
- Executive Partnership: Partner with the CEO, President, and CSMO to translate growth objectives into marketing strategy. Lead quarterly business reviews and board-level planning with clear performance data and commercial conviction.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Deep therapy area domain knowledge across men’s health, women’s health, weight management, dermatology, longevity, peptides, sexual health, and cognitive health—developed through direct commercial experience in compounding, specialty pharma, telehealth, functional medicine, or an adjacent regulated category. This domain knowledge is non-negotiable; general pharmaceutical marketing experience without therapy-area depth will not meet the bar for this role.
- Proven pricing strategy expertise: experience designing and managing pricing architecture across DTC, telehealth, and prescriber/provider channels in a regulated product environment. Ability to gather and act on competitive price intelligence, model channel-specific margin implications, and build pricing governance frameworks that scale across a multi-product portfolio.
- Working knowledge of FDA, DEA, and USP regulatory standards applicable to pharmaceutical and compounding marketing communications.
- Proficiency in data analytics, closed-loop attribution, and predictive modeling to optimize campaign ROI and inform commercial strategy.
- Strong cross-functional leadership and executive communication skills with ability to align stakeholders and present marketing outcomes to senior leadership.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 10+ years in product marketing with 3+ years at Director level; Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred.
- Must have come from within the industry: compounding pharmacy, specialty pharma, telehealth platform, functional medicine brand, or a direct competitor operating in one or more of Empower’s therapy areas. Deep working knowledge of the prescriber relationship, patient acquisition funnel, and regulatory environment in compounded or functional medicine categories is required. Candidates without this background will not be competitive.
- Demonstrated experience in product positioning, product-level brand architecture, and patient or provider experience design. Must be able to show specific examples of value proposition development, product naming and branding, and go-to-market positioning that drove commercial outcomes. Pricing architecture experience required: DTC vs. telehealth vs. prescriber/provider channel pricing, competitive price intelligence, and margin-aware pricing strategy across a multi-product portfolio.
- Hands-on experience with AI marketing tools including generative AI, predictive analytics, and performance dashboards; strong executive presence and communication skills required.
Key Competencies:
- Customer Focus: Builds trust through customer-centric solutions.
- Strategic AI: Guides responsible AI adoption and adaptation.
- Optimizes Work Processes: Drives efficiency with continuous improvement.
- Collaborates: Partners effectively to achieve shared goals.
- Resourcefulness: Secures and deploys resources efficiently.
- Manages Complexity: Simplifies and solves complex challenges.
- Ensures Accountability: Delivers on commitments with integrity.
- Situational Adaptability: Adjusts approach to shifting conditions.
- Communicates Effectively: Tailors messages to diverse audiences.
Values:
- People: Empowering people defines who we are.
- Quality: Excellence in every product, every time.
- Service: Serving others is our highest purpose.
