Position Summary

Empower Pharmacy is seeking a Data Architect to serve as an individual contributor responsible for designing scalable, fit-for-purpose data architecture across the enterprise. This is a highly technical, execution-oriented role focused on defining data models, integration patterns, architectural standards, and reference designs that improve the quality, usability, security, and scalability of our data ecosystem. The role partners closely with Data Engineering, Analytics, Governance, Security, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into durable data solutions across operational and analytical environments. Hands-on Master Data Management (MDM) experience is highly recommended.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Defines conceptual, logical, and physical data architectures across operational, analytical, and curated data environments, ensuring fit-for-purpose designs that support enterprise analytics, reporting, and long-term platform scalability.
  • Designs scalable data models, domain and canonical models, and integration patterns for ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption across modern data platforms, improving consistency, interoperability, and reuse across systems and domains.
  • Establishes architectural standards and reference designs for data ingestion, storage, transformation, semantic consistency, and consumption, enabling reliable and durable data solutions across operational and analytical workloads.
  • Produces and maintains key architecture artifacts including data models, solution diagrams, source-to-target mappings, interface specifications, lineage expectations, data flow documentation, and technical standards that support transparency, governance, and alignment across initiatives.
  • Partners closely with Data Engineering, Analytics, Governance, Security and Compliance, application teams, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into durable data solutions, promote reusable patterns for reference and master/shared data, and support root-cause analysis and resolution of structural data issues.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated experience designing enterprise or domain data architectures, data models, and integration patterns in a modern cloud data environment, with the ability to work directly with engineering teams and production data to design pragmatic, durable solutions.
  • Advanced expertise in enterprise data modeling (conceptual, logical, and physical), Structured Query Language (SQL), data integration and pipeline design, data quality controls, metadata and lineage management, and modern cloud data architecture.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT, orchestration, metadata/catalog solutions, and API- or file-based integration patterns is strongly preferred.
  • Strong stakeholder management, clear written and verbal communication, systems thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence across technical and business teams while operating effectively as an individual contributor.
  • Master Data Management (MDM) concepts or implementation experience is highly recommended.
