Position Summary

The Senior Cost Accountant owns the economic truth of Empower’s manufacturing and compounding operations at scale. This role ensures product cost, margin, and inventory economics are accurate, timely, decision-grade, and audit-defensible across the largest 503A and 503B platform in the country. The position directly enables pricing discipline, capacity decisions, regulatory confidence, and patient access by eliminating ambiguity from cost data and translating complexity into action. Operating with minimal oversight, this individual builds scalable systems, applies artificial intelligence to accelerate execution, and delivers insights fast enough to influence real-time decisions. Success is measured by decision velocity, margin protection, audit resilience, and the durability of cost systems under hyper-growth. This role is designed for a high-agency individual contributor who expects ownership, thrives under pressure, and views accuracy, speed, and accountability as simultaneous requirements rather than tradeoffs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Own Cost Truth at Scale

  • Own end-to-end product costing across materials, labor, overhead, and allocations, delivering accurate, timely cost positions leaders trust for pricing, sourcing, and capacity decisions.
  • Investigate cost and inventory variances at the transaction level, quantify financial impact, and drive corrective actions through operations with validated follow-through.

Protect and Expand Margin

  • Build and maintain SKU, formulation, and customer margin models that surface profit leakage, upside opportunities, and explicit tradeoffs.
  • Enforce pricing discipline by embedding cost guardrails, assumptions, and post-launch margin measurement into pricing workflows.

Build Systems That Survive Hyper-Growth

  • Design scalable costing workflows, controls, and templates that eliminate recurring errors and reduce dependency on manual intervention.
  • Own cost and inventory data integrity within ERP systems, validating data lineage from production through financial reporting.

Use Artificial Intelligence as Force Multiplier

  • Build and maintain AI-enabled automations that accelerate reconciliations, variance detection, and anomaly identification while preserving auditability.
  • Apply AI to synthesize complex datasets into forward-looking insights that improve pricing, sourcing, and operational decisions.

Build and Scale Individual Impact

  • Own complex cost initiatives end-to-end, setting priorities, milestones, and metrics independently while communicating risks early.
  • Establish personal operating systems, documentation, and tools that make high performance repeatable and scalable over time.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. Employees are regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. Knowledge and Skills

  • Deep expertise in cost accounting, inventory valuation, and margin analysis within complex manufacturing or regulated operating environments.
  • Advanced capability with ERP systems, data modeling, and analytical tools, with demonstrated ownership of data integrity and workflows.
  • Practical application of AI, automation, or scripting to replace manual accounting work and improve decision quality.
