Senior Accountant
Position Summary
The Senior Accountant serves as a cornerstone of financial truth, execution speed, and regulatory resilience at Empower Pharmacy. This individual contributor role owns the accuracy, defensibility, and scalability of core accounting outputs that enable hyper-growth without compromising compliance, credibility, or operational integrity. The Senior Accountant delivers fast, audit-ready financials, resolves complex accounting issues under ambiguity, and builds systems that withstand volume growth, regulatory scrutiny, and operational change. Success is measured by close speed, data integrity, audit outcomes, and the durability of processes built. This role operates with extreme ownership, minimal oversight, and mission-driven urgency, recognizing that financial execution directly impacts patient access and provider trust. Artificial intelligence is a daily force multiplier, used to accelerate execution, improve insight quality, and automate low-leverage work. The Senior Accountant transforms accounting from a back-office function into scalable infrastructure that enables Empower to grow responsibly and confidently.
Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver a Fast, Defensible, and Scalable Close
- Own the monthly close end to end, delivering accurate, decision-ready financial statements on accelerated timelines without escalation or rework.
- Redesign close workflows to eliminate manual dependencies, reduce cycle time, and survive significant increases in transaction volume and complexity.
- Make high-judgment accounting decisions under ambiguity, documenting conclusions clearly and accepting accountability for outcomes.
Protect Financial Integrity in a Regulated Environment
- Embed GAAP compliance and internal controls directly into processes with an auditor-first mindset.
- Maintain continuous audit readiness through clean reconciliations, support schedules, and narratives.
- Identify and eliminate data integrity risks at the root before they cascade into regulatory or operational exposure.
Uses Artificial Intelligence to Transform the Business
- Apply AI daily to accelerate reconciliations, variance analysis, and documentation while maintaining professional judgment.
- Use AI-driven analysis to surface trends, anomalies, and drivers that improve decision quality for leadership.
- Automate low-leverage accounting tasks and reinvest capacity into higher-risk, higher-judgment work.
Build Systems That Survive Hyper Growth
- Own complex accounting workstreams end to end, defining scope, risks, milestones, and success metrics.
- Install personal operating systems that ensure consistent quality, predictable delivery, and resilience under pressure.

Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced knowledge of US GAAP, close operations, and audit readiness with demonstrated judgment in ambiguous accounting scenarios.
- Proven ability to design scalable accounting systems, controls, and documentation that withstand growth and regulatory scrutiny.
- Hands-on use of AI and automation tools to improve speed, accuracy, and insight in accounting workflows.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, translating complex financial issues into clear, decision-ready insights.

Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or progress toward CPA strongly preferred.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience in high-growth, high-expectation environments.
- Demonstrated ownership of complex accounting areas, close processes, and audit interactions.
- Experience working with ERP systems and accounting tools; strong interest in automation, AI, and rethinking traditional accounting processes preferred.
- Strong foundational knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting concepts.
- Healthcare or life sciences experience helpful but not required.
