The Global Trade Specialist plays a critical role in supporting Empower Pharmacy’s mission of expanding access to quality, affordable medication by ensuring seamless global trade operations aligned with international standards. This role manages complex import and export processes while navigating evolving regulations to facilitate uninterrupted delivery of pharmaceutical products. • Manages all import and export operations including classification, valuation, documentation, and clearance while adhering to applicable United States and international trade protocols.
• Develops and maintains relationships with brokers, freight forwarders, customs agencies, and internal stakeholders to address and resolve shipping or regulatory matters.
• Oversees internal trade practice reviews and record-keeping to align with standards set by the Food and Drug Administration, Drug Enforcement Administration, and United States Pharmacopeia.
• Monitors and interprets changes in global trade laws, tariffs, and embargoes to proactively adjust company trade practices and operational strategies.
• Collaborates cross-functionally with supply chain, procurement, quality, and regulatory teams to enhance trade flow efficiency, mitigate logistical risks, and support operational consistency.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence global supply chain strategies.
• Proficiency in global trade compliance systems, import/export documentation, Enterprise Resource Planning systems, and Microsoft Office tools.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in international trade operations, import/export compliance, and logistics management with expertise in customs regulations, trade agreements, and pharmaceutical product handling.
• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in international business, supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
• Certified Customs Specialist (CCS); Licensed Customs Broker (LCB); Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) preferred.
