Position Summary

The Microsoft Applications Administrator plays a pivotal role in redefining how Empower connects people, spaces, and productivity in our dynamic, fast-growing environment. In addition to owning the administration and optimization of Microsoft Places, this role also manages key legacy applications, ensuring continuity, performance, and integration across both modern and established systems. By supporting our hybrid workplace strategy through real-time collaboration, space utilization, and employee engagement at scale, this individual contributor helps shape a smarter, more flexible work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administers and configures Microsoft Places to support the organization’s hybrid work strategy, enabling efficient space management, employee presence coordination, and location-aware collaboration.
  • Serves as the administrator for legacy business applications in addition to Microsoft Places, ensuring continued support, configuration, and system integrity across both modern and legacy platforms.
  • Partners with Information Technology (IT), People Operations, and Facilities teams to integrate Microsoft Places with broader technology ecosystems and workplace experience initiatives.
  • Monitors application performance, troubleshoots issues, and implements updates or enhancements to optimize system functionality and user satisfaction across all supported platforms.
  • Creates and distributes training materials, user guides, and communications to promote adoption and self-service use of Microsoft Places and legacy applications.
  • Analyzes data from Microsoft Places and legacy tools to generate insights that support space utilization, operational planning, and cross-functional decision-making.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong communication, user advocacy, and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and support organizational change initiatives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite (especially Teams, Outlook, and SharePoint), system integration tools, and experience administering digital workplace or smart building platforms.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT system administration, digital workplace tools, or facilities technology with demonstrated success supporting enterprise collaboration platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, systems engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate preferred; Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals strongly preferred.
