Position Summary

The Manager, Transportation plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless flow of our compounding pharmaceutical products through optimized, timely, and compliant distribution. This role champions the on-time delivery and integrity of medications, empowering patients nationwide to live healthier, happier lives. As part of a dynamic and innovative team, this position supports Empower Pharmacy’s mission of expanding access to quality, affordable medication by designing transportation strategies that are as efficient and dependable as the care we deliver.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leads daily transportation operations to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant delivery of pharmaceutical products, while maintaining high standards of safety, regulatory adherence, and customer satisfaction.
  • Develops, negotiates, and manages strategic partnerships with shipping providers, carriers, and third-party logistics organizations to continuously enhance service quality, drive operational efficiency, and achieve cost savings across the transportation network.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and reports on transportation metrics and Key Performance Indicators using artificial intelligence (AI) - driven analytics tools to identify opportunities for route optimization, cost savings, and risk mitigation.
  • Ensures all shipping activities adhere to Food and Drug Administration, Drug Enforcement Administration, Department of Transportation, and current Good Manufacturing Practices standards.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, Quality, and Customer Service teams to enhance service levels and customer satisfaction.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to foster collaboration across departments and inspire a high-performance culture.
  • Deep understanding of transportation management systems, carrier management, temperature-controlled logistics, and proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic applications of AI for transportation analytics and forecasting.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain management, including 3 years in a leadership capacity within a pharmaceutical, healthcare, or regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Certified in Transportation and Logistics (CTL) preferred; Lean Six Sigma certification preferred; Project Management Professional (PMP) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging AI in daily work to drive efficiency, solve problems, and enhance decision-making—adept at integrating AI-powered solutions into all workflows.
