Position Summary

The Senior Data Engineer drives innovative data solutions that support Empower’s mission to expand access to quality, affordable medications. This role ensures secure, reliable data architectures and actionable insights, fostering collaboration and innovation in a dynamic, growth-focused environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops and deploys scalable cloud-based data infrastructure solutions, ensuring reliability, quality, and security while designing modern data architectures such as star schema and data marts for optimized storage and analysis.
  • Creates, manages, and optimizes Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) workflows and pipelines using both visual tools and manual coding to facilitate efficient and seamless data integration.
  • Leverages Representational State Transfer (REST) APIs to integrate external data sources, enhancing a comprehensive data ecosystem while maintaining the highest standards of data quality and compliance.
  • Drives data strategy initiatives by developing robust data collection and analysis platforms, contributing to visualization and insights projects, and applying analytics to foster business growth.
  • Fosters a collaborative team culture by mentoring team members, encouraging innovation, and staying updated on emerging data technologies to incorporate cutting-edge solutions into the overall strategy.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment with adaptability, strong project management skills, and the ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions while fostering collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Demonstrates deep expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Serverless technologies, relational and non-relational databases, Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) tools, data modeling, and data warehousing, with proficiency in programming, data transformation, and visual reporting tools.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a Data Engineering role and dimensional and relational data modeling experience.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or another quantitative field.
  • Preferred certifications include Amazon Web Services (AWS) Data Engineering, AWS Data Analytics, Data Vault 2, Snowflake, and expertise in Kimball and Inmon Data Modeling methodologies.
