Position Summary

At Empower Pharmacy, we believe in fostering an inclusive, compliant, and legally sound workplace that supports our team members and our mission of delivering high-quality, affordable medications. The Paralegal Specialist provides critical support to labor legal counsel by ensuring compliance with labor and employment laws, managing immigration cases, and collaborating with external counsel. With a proactive and solutions-driven mindset, this role plays an essential part in protecting and strengthening Empower’s workforce while maintaining our commitment to excellence, innovation, and service.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supports Labor and Employment Legal Counsel by conducting legal research, drafting contracts and employment agreements, developing policies, and ensuring compliance with federal and state labor laws.
  • Manages business immigration processes by overseeing visa applications, including Optional Practical Training, H-1B, H-4, and Trade National visas, tracking amendments and extensions, and assisting with permanent labor certification applications while coordinating with external immigration counsel to ensure compliance and timely updates.
  • Collaborates with outside counsel and internal stakeholders on employment litigation and labor disputes by gathering documentation, preparing legal responses, and ensuring compliance with legal proceedings.
  • Provides legal support by assisting with case preparation, policy reviews, and corporate legal matters while managing legal documents, filings, and communications with key stakeholders.
  • Stays current on employment law trends, regulatory changes, and best practices, leveraging technology and legal research tools to enhance efficiency and support innovative legal solutions.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external legal counsel, while maintaining attention to detail and organization in handling sensitive legal matters.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor and employment law, business immigration process, and compliance frameworks.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business immigration, labor and employment law, or legal compliance within a corporate or law firm environment required; experience supporting litigation matters preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
  • Paralegal credentials are required, with an immigration certificate and Notary Public commission preferred.
