Position SummaryAt Empower Pharmacy, we are dedicated to expanding access to high-quality, affordable medications, and our Special Advisor - Government Affairs plays a vital role in this mission. This position helps shape public policy strategies, ensuring regulatory developments support our vision of innovation and patient care. Through collaboration with government agencies, policymakers, and industry leaders, the Special Advisor strengthens our advocacy efforts, helping to create a healthier, happier future for the communities we serve.
Duties and Responsibilities- Develops and implements comprehensive government relations strategies that advance Empower’s regulatory objectives, advocating for policies that improve patient access to innovative and affordable healthcare solutions.
- Continuously monitors, evaluates, and proactively responds to federal, state, and local legislative and regulatory changes, ensuring strategic engagement with policymakers and alignment with evolving industry standards.
- Establishes, strengthens, and maintains relationships with government officials, regulatory agencies, and industry organizations to effectively influence healthcare policies and drive Empower’s strategic initiatives.
- Advises leadership on emerging public policy trends by preparing in-depth reports, position papers, and testimony that clearly articulate the company’s stance and regulatory priorities.
- Leads advocacy initiatives, manages external lobbying efforts, and coordinates grassroots campaigns to ensure cohesive messaging and a unified approach to policy engagement.

Knowledge and Skills- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state legislative processes, regulatory frameworks, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), with demonstrated experience leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) in daily work to drive efficiency, solve problems, and enhance decision-making—adept at integrating AI-powered solutions into all workflows.

- Minimum of 7 years of experience in public policy, legislative advocacy, or government relations, preferably within the pharmacy, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industry; experience working with the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy and the Food and Drug Administration is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is required; a master’s degree or Juris Doctor is preferred.
