Position SummaryThe Director of Government Affairs is a key leader in advancing Empower Pharmacy’s public policy and advocacy efforts, aligning regulatory developments with the organization’s mission to deliver quality, affordable medications. This role fosters collaboration with government entities and stakeholders while driving legislative strategies that promote healthier, happier lives. By championing innovation, service, and quality, the Director ensures Empower remains a leader in healthcare advocacy and access to transformative solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities- Develops and executes comprehensive government relations and legislative strategies that align with Empower’s regulatory and public policy objectives, proactively positioning the company as a leader in the industry.
- Continuously monitors, analyzes, and interprets federal, state, local, and international policies affecting Empower’s operations, providing strategic responses, ensuring compliance, and effectively leading internal and external government affairs teams to drive impactful policy outcomes.
- Establishes, strengthens, and maintains high-level relationships with policymakers, regulatory agencies, industry leaders, and advocacy organizations to advance Empower’s legislative priorities and strategic initiatives.
- Delivers timely, data-driven recommendations to leadership on emerging legislative and regulatory developments, drafting detailed position papers, policy briefs, and expert testimony to support Empower’s interests.
- Leads and oversees all public policy initiatives, managing external advocacy teams, coordinating grassroots engagement efforts, and ensuring cohesive, influential messaging that supports Empower’s long-term vision and operational success.

Knowledge and Skills- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of management and build high-performing teams.
- Excellent attention to detail, a deep understanding of federal and state legislative processes, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), with demonstrated experience leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) in daily work to drive efficiency, solve problems, and enhance decision-making—adept at integrating AI-powered solutions into all workflows.

- Minimum of 7 years of experience in public policy, legislative advocacy, or government relations, ideally within the pharmacy, pharmaceutical, or healthcare sector; experience in roles with the National Association of Board of Pharmacies and Food and Drug Administration is preferred.
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Healthcare Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree or Juris Doctor is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leveraging AI in daily work to drive efficiency, solve problems, and enhance decision-making—adept at integrating AI-powered solutions into all workflows.
