Position Summary

The Director of Supply Chain drives operational excellence by optimizing procurement, inventory, and material flow to support Empower's mission of expanding access to quality, affordable medication. This role offers the opportunity to lead transformative initiatives, enhance efficiency, and make a meaningful impact on healthcare.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversees procurement, inventory management, and material flow across all departments, ensuring alignment with manufacturing schedules, historical sales, and sales forecasts to maintain optimal stock levels and operational efficiency.
  • Develops and implements processes to optimize savings, minimize waste, and enhance supply chain practices, including vendor qualification, compliance with regulatory requirements, and alignment with environmental policies and standards.
  • Identifies, acquires, and integrates systems and software to manage critical supply chain information, while collaborating with Information Technology to streamline procurement processes across receiving, manufacturing, dispensing, and shipping.
  • Leads Sales and Operations Planning by updating, executing, and managing weekly meetings, and serves as the primary contact for escalations involving raw materials and finished goods.
  • Oversees the import, export, and planning of materials and goods, coordinating with customs and regulatory bodies, and fosters collaboration with internal departments to meet customer requirements and provide tailored solutions.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • Demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to mentor and develop employees, manage multiple tasks in a time-sensitive environment, and adapt to challenges while working independently and collaboratively.
  • Possesses thorough knowledge of logistical procedures, regulatory compliance with state and federal laws, and value chain optimization, with experience in Information Technology infrastructure, Enterprise Resource Planning platforms like Oracle, and systematic process improvement in an entrepreneurial setting.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in supply chain management, including 5 years leading a supply chain organization, with at least 2 years managing raw active pharmaceutical ingredient chemicals or commercial pharmaceutical product purchasing, and 3 years in a current good manufacturing practices environment recommended.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging AI in daily work to drive efficiency, solve problems, and enhance decision-making—adept at integrating AI-powered solutions into all workflows.
