Position Summary

The Process Engineer I enhances non-sterile and sterile operations by optimizing efficiency, minimizing downtime, and ensuring compliance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). This role partners with manufacturing, quality, and validation teams to drive continuous improvement through data analysis, troubleshooting, and process validation.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides technical support for sterile and non-sterile operations, troubleshooting equipment, improving processes, and reducing downtime; analyzes data to optimize performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Gathers data, performs root cause analysis, and trends performance to adjust process controls; develops essential documentation such as Risk Assessments, Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and GMP documents.
  • Collaborates across manufacturing, quality, and validation teams to implement process improvements, ensuring efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Engages in process validation, equipment qualification, and commissioning activities, developing and executing protocols, risk assessments, and CAPA to mitigate risks.
  • Actively assesses aseptic processing on the production floor, addressing challenges and ensuring Food and Drug Administration (FDA), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and cGMP compliance.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Employee may occasionally be required to lift up to 25 lbs.

Knowledge and Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical processing, current cGMP, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, United States Pharmacopeia) with the ability to gown and work in ISO 5/7 Cleanroom settings.
  • Proficient in data analysis and process optimization, strong problem-solving skills for root cause and corrective actions, and effective communicator in cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance and quality through detail-oriented practices and Microsoft Office skills.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, Mechanical or Biomedical engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
