Position Summary

The Analytics Engineer plays a key role in shaping data-driven decision-making at Empower Pharmacy by developing and maintaining advanced business intelligence (BI) solutions. This position supports our values of service, quality, and innovation by creating powerful data visualizations, reports, and dashboards that drive business insights across various departments, including sales, clinical trials, manufacturing, and supply chain. The Analytics Engineer ensures that critical data is not only accessible but also structured in a way that enhances operational efficiency and strategic decision-making.

This role involves designing data structures and relationships, building custom calculations, and integrating multiple data sources into cohesive Power BI reports. By working closely with stakeholders, the Analytics Engineer translates complex business requirements into actionable data models, helping various teams—including pharmacy operations, finance, and Human Resources—leverage real-time insights to improve outcomes. Additionally, this role plays a significant part in optimizing BI systems and addressing data quality issues to ensure reliability and accuracy.

As a key contributor to Empower’s data strategy, the Analytics Engineer is responsible for evolving the company’s data platforms, particularly Snowflake, and providing technical expertise for troubleshooting and training. This role also supports the development of enterprise-wide dashboards and reports, enabling both high-level decision-making and detailed operational analyses.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops Power BI reports and dashboards to visualize and analyze pharmaceutical data from various sources, including sales, clinical trials, manufacturing, and supply chain.
  • Establishes data structure setup, for developing BI reports, and for providing insights to improve decision-making.
  • Creates relationships between data and develops tabular and other multidimensional data models in collaboration with team data engineers.
  • Creates customized charts and custom calculations as required to address business stakeholder's complex analytical requirements.
  • Designs business analysis and data recording systems for use in the reporting processes with special emphasis on Snowflake and PowerBI.
  • Examines existing reports to locate and resolve issues. These reports consist of key performance indicators (KPIs), daily pharmacy operational dashboards, financial, and production quality analysis while addressing data quality issues emanating from end-to-end data integrations and analytics.
  • Makes essential technical and strategic changes to improve present business intelligence systems.
  • Works closely with business stakeholders to understand their data analysis needs and translates requirements into effective Power BI solutions.
  • Develops and updates technical documentation for providing end-to-end data cataloging and data lineage while augmenting with user-friendly business definitions.
  • Collaborates with teams to integrate systems across to evolve single and consistent data definitions(metrics/KPIs). This effort involves data team’s collaboration (not limited to) with pharmacy operations (Pharmacy Management Systems), Enterprise Resource Planning, Finance, and HR.
  • Designs and implements data models, transformations, and calculations within Power BI to ensure accurate and reliable reporting.
  • Provides technical expertise and support to end-users for troubleshooting, training, and adoption of Power BI and self-service solutions.
  • Develops Enterprise dashboards and reports such as KPIs, Operational dashboards, financial metrics for both enterprise level decision making and departmental deed-dives.
  • Coordinates development of Business Intelligence products with cloud data team and departments such as pharmacy operations, finance, quality, and HR to enable self-serve analytics.
  • Optimizes Power BI performance and usability by implementing best practices for data visualization, navigation, and interactivity.
  • Maintains data analytics platforms such as Enterprise Data Warehouse on Snowflake.
  • Conducts troubleshooting on BI models.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. This is primarily a remote position. The employee is regularly required to attend video conference meetings in surroundings conducive to clear communication in a non-distracting way. The company will, from time to time, have the employee travel to meet with business stakeholders, or attend learning events and conferences. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop or kneel.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or University.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience with PowerBI or other related dashboard systems such as Looker, Tableau, Superset, or Dash.
  • Experience Power BI, Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) Queries, and associated supportive tooling (DAX Studio, DBeaver, etc.) required.
  • Experience with Extract, Transform, Load or data transformation tools is required. Examples are Apache Hop, Alteryx, and Data Build Tool.
