Position Summary

Senior Packaging Operators play a critical role in ensuring smooth packaging operations by adhering to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, maintaining safety standards, and delivering high-quality output. This position leads production line setup, conducts routine maintenance, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and ensures accurate documentation to support audits and inspections. Through continuous training and teamwork, Senior Packaging Operators contribute to Empower’s mission of expanding access to quality, affordable medications that help people live healthier, happier lives.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Executes packaging processes in strict compliance with cGMP, standard operating procedures, environmental and safety guidelines, and other applicable regulations.
  • Conducts manual visual inspections, qualifies products per visual inspector standards, performs in-process checks, logs data in batch records, operates automated inspection equipment, prints labels, packages vials, and maintains defect test kits.
  • Verifies weight and calibration of scales and balances, ensures packaging lines are clean and organized, and prepares the area for operations.
  • Leads packaging line setup, manages changeovers, performs routine maintenance and troubleshooting, collaborates with cross-functional teams for area qualification, facilitates training, and supports special projects to meet production schedules.
  • Maintains accurate records of production output, machine performance, and deviations while ensuring compliance with GMP and FDA regulations through participation in audits and inspections.

While performing the job responsibilities, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain stationary for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee must regularly move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. At least 20/20 near-sighted vision with or without corrective lenses is required. Average or normal color vision is required. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employees must be able to stand and walk for extended periods for consecutive days. Employees must be able to lift to 30 lbs.

Experience and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant coursework or certifications are a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 year experience in previous packaging role within pharmaceutical industry or a combination of education and experience required.
